Navigating the Cost of Litigation Maze
The most difficult issue to nail in litigation is its cost.
Not many Western Australian Law Firms explain their hourly rates up front in their websites but even that doesn’t really matter. The real issue is how many people at what level of seniority as well as what hourly rates, are required to complete tasks on your case. Having too many staff working on files can cause over servicing and therefore over-charging.
Our hourly rates are fixed at $220 to $370 per hour depending on the complexity of the case. We are not aware of any better hourly rates and for complex commercial litigation our hourly rates are generally lower than other litigation firms.
Cost effectiveness in Commercial Litigation arises from specialisation. Best practice dictates there must be prompt assessment of tasks and having the right staff do them. Things must be done once and done correctly. Many litigation tasks can and should be done by specialised law clerks at lower hourly rates than lawyers.

Not All Law Firms Are The Same
